In a future era where machines have become autonomous and provoke deep social and political disputes, Astro Boy (1980) centers on Atom, a young robot created to resemble his creator's late son. After surviving a difficult beginning, Atom is rescued and taken in by the compassionate Dr. Ochanomizu.
