Synopsis

Tokidoki Rikugou, a student who dislikes history, fails his Japanese History class and is required to attend a museum lecture to recover his grade. The museum's centerpiece is an extensive reenactment of the Edo era, presented as an immersive simulation of the Tokugawa shogunate called the Edo Bakumatsu Walking Tour and Exhibition. Unfamiliar with samurai customs and the beliefs of the period, Tokidoki is startled by the pervasive superstition he encounters. After dismissing notions of gods and yokai, he is attacked by a demon on a bridge and rescued by a swordsman named Kuchiha. When he attempts to leave, he finds he cannot exit the simulated environment. He then meets Kon Shinonome, another modern individual who became trapped earlier, and gradually adapts to life within the recreated village. Tokidoki must aid in defending the settlement from demon threats while seeking the truth behind the simulation and the organization responsible for its creation.
