Set at Seirei Academy, an elite institution for top students in Japan, the story follows Alisa Mikhailovna "Alya" Kujou, a half-Russian, half-Japanese student council treasurer admired for her intellect, beauty, and strict demeanor. Opposite her is Masachika Kuze, a lackadaisical classmate who appears disengaged in class and indifferent toward Alya. What begins as annoyance on Alya’s part slowly shifts to curiosity, and she starts to convey her affection in Russian. Unbeknownst to her, Masachika comprehends the language perfectly; he has been studying Russian because a childhood friend temporarily stayed in Japan and he hoped to reunite with her. Their interactions grow more frequent and take on a playful, eccentric tone, and both must confront and understand the new emotions that arise between them while navigating their changing relationship.
