Synopsis

After the mechanized homeworld Andromeda was destroyed, the machine empire continues its spread and Earth becomes a frontline. Tetsurou Hoshino, back from his voyage on the Galaxy Express 999, enlists with fellow humans resisting mechanization. When a cryptic recording from Maetel urges him to reboard the 999, he fights his way to Megalopolis station and manages to catch the departing train. This journey differs from his previous travels: Maetel is absent, a foreboding "Ghost Train" has manifested, and the 999's final destination is uncertain. As Tetsurou contends with these new enigmas, he encounters the enigmatic black knight Faust and gradually uncovers a disturbing secret at the heart of the machine empire.
