Synopsis

Propaganda from the Republic of San Magnolia persists despite the Spearhead Squadron’s disappearance. Vladilena Milizé remains active as “Handler One,” commanding a newly formed, dehumanized 86th unit engaged in the unending conflict with the Legion. On the Western Front, Shinei Nouzen and his comrades are sheltered at a Giadian military facility after rescue; the Federal Republic of Giad, successor to the Giadian Empire, grants the rescued Eighty-Six full citizenship and personal autonomy. Hosted by President Ernst Zimmerman, the group encounters his adoptive daughter, Augusta Frederica Adel-Adler, the last Empress. Within an atmosphere of tentative kindness, Shinei and his squad sense their identity is tied to combat. They soon reenter hostilities as part of the Federacy’s Nordlicht Squadron, accompanied by Augusta Frederica, and confront the familiar toll of death and suffering on the front lines.
