Synopsis

Three young women are selected by the revered Shinju-sama to serve as defenders against the Vertexes, destructive entities that endanger the world's balance and safety. Sumi Washio, Sonoko Nogi, and Gin Minowa wait uncertainly for the moment they will be called to act, passing time in idle readiness. When a Vertex suddenly appears, their lack of coordinated combat leaves them nearly defeated; through sheer resolve they manage to prevail, and afterward they commit to strengthening their cooperation and refining their fighting skills. As additional Vertexes emerge and battles demand greater power, the repeated use of their magic threatens to alter the girls in ways that may be irreversible. Faced with escalating danger, they must confront the possible costs of wielding the force required to protect humanity and decide whether the sacrifices asked of them are acceptable.
