Synopsis

Nao, a middle-schooler in eighth grade and manager of her school's tiny Digital Camera Club, focuses her lens almost exclusively on clouds and the sky. While photographing from a familiar rooftop she discovers an unusual cat capable of directing breezes. Startled by the animal’s abilities, Nao loses her balance and plummets from the roof. Her friend Miki, the club’s other member, stands by her side as events unfold. Nearby adults connected to the cat include Mr. Taiki, a teacher responsible for instructing the feline in wind control; Ryoko, a young woman who harbors romantic feelings for Mr. Taiki; Jun, who aids Nao and Miki in searching for the airborne cat; and Yukio, who is the widow of Mr. Taiki’s late brother. Beyond the city limits, a community associated with practitioners known as Wind Handlers has emerged, and preparations are underway for a cryptic Wind Festival tied to that settlement. The story follows Nao and her companions as they confront the strange cat’s influence and the larger mysteries centered on wind and the festival.
