Synopsis

Anna Sasaki, fragile from recurrent asthma and withdrawn in social settings, is sent to a seaside rural town for her health and peace of mind. Living with her aunt and uncle, she fills long summer days sketching and exploring. While wandering, Anna comes upon the neglected Marsh House and encounters Marnie, an enigmatic, vivacious girl who begins to coax Anna from her isolation. Nightly visits deepen their bond, and as Anna’s stay draws to a close she uncovers unsettling truths tied to Marnie and the mansion. The story follows Anna’s quiet transformation through an earnest friendship and a formative summer that reshapes her sense of self.
