Synopsis

In a Tokyo beset by persistent rain, Hodaka Morishima, a runaway high schooler, arrives struggling to survive and finds work at a small publisher. Hina Amano, an orphan supporting her younger brother, also seeks employment amid the endless downpour. Their paths cross when Hodaka intervenes to protect Hina from dangerous men, and they decide to flee together. Hodaka soon learns Hina possesses an extraordinary ability: when she prays, she can call forth the sun. Seeing a way to help them both, Hodaka proposes that Hina use her power to clear the skies for others in need, becoming a "sunshine girl." Initially, their circumstances improve, but they must face the reality that this remarkable talent demands a significant price.
