Synopsis

The rollout of 7G Network technology brought sweeping change: landscapes altered, people developed strange mutations, and social norms were fundamentally rewritten. Agano survives as one of the remaining communities, where everyone aged twenty-one and older has taken on animal forms. Shizuru Chikura, a high schooler from Agano, is determined to locate her missing friend Youka Nakatomi after spotting a newspaper photo that suggests Youka is in Ikebukuro. With mass transit disabled, her travel choices are scarce until Tairo Zenjirou, an elderly, forgetful conductor and the sole adult human left in town, shows her how to operate an abandoned train. As Shizuru sets out for Ikebukuro, her classmates Nadeshiko Hoshi, Reimi Kuga, and Akira Shinonome join unexpectedly, turning a solitary search into a shared rail journey that may confront them with threats unlike any faced at home.
