Synopsis

The year 2205 features a special sage, known as Saniwa, who possesses the unique ability to grant life to inanimate objects. Simultaneously, malevolent entities initiate a scheme to travel through time and fundamentally change historical events. The only individuals capable of thwarting these efforts are the Saniwa and their most potent animated creations: historical Japanese swords, embodied as young men. Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru begins by depicting the life of Yamatonokami Yasusada, an uchigatana once wielded by Souji Okita, as he commences his tenure at the Saniwa's fortress. He soon reunites with his long-time friend, Kashuu Kiyomitsu. Together, they become immersed in the daily routines and lighthearted interactions of their fellow sword warriors. They frequently engage in enjoyable activities, ranging from lively snowball skirmishes to introducing new comrades to the citadel. Crucially, whenever the government issues a directive, these sword entities are always prepared to execute their imperative mission of preserving history.
