Synopsis

Lucius Modestus, a Roman architect from antiquity, faces a creative block that leaves him unemployed and increasingly withdrawn. Concerned friends bring him to a crowded bathhouse to lift his spirits, but he cannot relax until, submerged briefly, he discovers a concealed tunnel. That passage carries him into a contemporary Japanese bathhouse, where exposure to modern design and practices sparks the ideas he lacks. Armed with knowledge seemingly beyond his era, Lucius attempts to recreate what he observed, working with limited resources that often yield imperfect results.
