Synopsis

Six months after Hikaru Indou vanished in the mountains and reappeared a week later with no memory of that time, Yoshiki Tsujinaka grows convinced the person before him is not his old friend. When Yoshiki confronts him, Hikaru sheds a disguised human form to reveal a monstrous identity and implores Yoshiki to keep the truth hidden, fearing he might kill him otherwise. Though possessing a supernatural origin, the returned Hikaru displays a naive, childlike curiosity, delighting in simple human experiences—summer warmth, the rural landscape, and first encounters with the everyday world. For Yoshiki, whether this being is truly Hikaru or an entity using stolen recollections matters less than the fear of losing him again; he clings to the companion who has come back. As Yoshiki's grief and protective attachment deepen, signs emerge that something dangerous and otherworldly may have come down from the mountains and now affects their village.
