Synopsis

Shogi, a revered Japanese board game, features the prestigious Ryuuou title, awarded to its top professional player. Yaichi Kuzuryuu achieves this pinnacle as the youngest champion, yet his victory is met with skepticism from the shogi community, with some questioning his merit. Meanwhile, Yaichi had previously made a promise to Ai Hinatsuru, a young girl, to mentor her in shogi if he secured the championship. When Ai arrives at his residence, Yaichi honorably, though hesitantly, accepts her as his student. Together, they embark on a journey to refine their shogi abilities: Ai seeks to discover her innate talent, while Yaichi endeavors to demonstrate his deservingness of the Ryuuou title to the world.
