His growing mastery triggers upheaval and devastation across the cultivation clans, ending when rivals unite and his closest ally kills him. Thirteen years after his death, Wei Wuxian returns in the body of a man deemed mad and encounters Lan Wangji, a former companion. Their reunion sparks an investigation into strange supernatural events afflicting the clans and everyday life. Facing restless spirits, malevolent entities, and hostile cultivators, the two men collaborate to uncover the origins of the disturbances and confront the consequences of the demonic path, forming an unexpected and deep bond as they pursue answers.
