Synopsis

Luo Xiaohei, a young monster often appearing as a small black cat, loses his forest home as human expansion reduces the wilds. Forced to abandon the woods, he struggles in the city until meeting Feng Xi, another monster who brings him to an isolated island sheltering a handful of monsters. Believing he has found safety, Xiaohei settles in among them, but their refuge is disrupted when Wuxian, a human Guild Executor, arrives hunting Feng Xi. After Feng Xi and the others escape by teleportation, Xiaohei remains behind with Wuxian. Though Xiaohei resists the man who attacked his friends, Wuxian compels the black cat to accompany him to the Guild. The journey exposes Xiaohei to unfamiliar ideas about human–monster relations amid a world undergoing rapid change, challenging his understanding of home and coexistence.
