Synopsis

At Kikyo Private Academy, students come from prominent families and uphold refined traditions; Chidori Public High School, by contrast, is known for its rowdy, less privileged student body. The stark social gap leads to frequent friction between the two schools. Rintarou Tsumugi, a Chidori pupil whose imposing looks keep others at a distance, harbors a kind nature beneath his stern appearance. While working at his family’s pastry shop, he encounters a customer who momentarily flees and then returns the next day to apologize, introducing herself as Kaoruko Waguri, a cheerful young woman. Rintarou values Kaoruko’s refusal to judge him by how he looks and begins to anticipate their meetings. When he later learns she attends Kikyo, their developing connection poses a challenge to the expectations and relationships that separate their schools.
