Synopsis

In the realm of Ryoza, the provinces of Shin-Ou and Tai-Kou have maintained harmony while Queen Shinou rules and Grand Duke Taikou commands an army of formidable war-lizards called the Touda. That fragile balance frays as rising tensions threaten civil conflict. In Ake, a Tai-Kou village responsible for raising the Grand Duke’s forces, Erin watches her mother Soyon work as the community’s chief Touda physician. When a catastrophic event harms the Grand Duke’s premier Touda and Soyon is harshly punished, Erin’s attempt to save her mother ends with her being swept downstream toward Shin-Ou. Cut off from her home, Erin must build a new life among unfamiliar people while searching for answers about both the creatures and the human motivations behind the growing hostilities. The story follows her struggle to survive, adapt, and seek truth amid escalating regional friction and moral uncertainty.
