Synopsis

In the realm of Auldrant, a centuries-old set of prophecies known as the Score governs the course of history and shapes ordinary lives, even amid violence and grief. Nations employ the Fonic Arts, a system of magic, as Kimlasca-Lanvaldear and the Malkuth Empire clash in a war aimed at realizing the Score’s envisioned paradise. Tales of the Abyss centers on Luke von Fabre, a young man who lives secluded in his family's estate after a childhood abduction left him without memories. While practicing swordplay, he intervenes when Tear, a woman with a mission to kill his guardian, attacks. Their confrontation unexpectedly transports them far from home. Their attempt to return home becomes an escalating journey that confronts the Score’s hold on the world and carries the potential either to liberate Auldrant from predestination or to bring about its ruin.
