Karen Kohiruimaki, a reserved university student in Tokyo, feels burdened by her exceptional height and retreats into virtual games seeking a small, comfortable identity. In the firearm-focused virtual reality world of Gun Gale Online she finally inhabits the diminutive, desert-pink avatar LLENN, whose agility and ferocity earn a feared reputation as a player killer. When an opponent outmatches LLENN, Karen encounters the skilled, unconventional Pitohui; their rapport leads Pitohui to recruit LLENN for Squad Jam, a team-based battle royale where squads fight until one remains. Facing intense, tactical combat, LLENN must rely on resourcefulness and determination to survive and prove herself in the arena.
