Synopsis

Legend says fireworks soothe restless spirits. For Tomoya Sugisaki, Aoi Harukawa, and Ryou Kobayashi, fireworks led them to a spectral figure known as the Summer Ghost. Thought to be the spirit of a young woman who took her own life, she appears only in a particular place and is visible solely to those who stand within an arm’s reach of death. Tomoya is a creatively inclined young man stifled by pressure to secure a place at a top university. Aoi endures persistent bullying and retreats into quietness. Ryou was once a promising basketball player whose career was cut short by a bleak medical prognosis. Their shared ability to see the Summer Ghost draws them together; the apparition is reputed to provide definitive answers about death, an allure that deeply affects each of them. Unsatisfied after their first contact, Tomoya pursues another encounter. As he spends more time with the ghost, the circumstances around her presence begin to reveal themselves, and the trio’s search for understanding becomes increasingly entangled with the ghost’s own mystery.
