Synopsis

After a supernova from a nearby star devastated Earth in 2167, radiation left widespread destruction and countless casualties. By 2356, humanity has united to reconstruct the planet and braces for a follow-up burst from the same stellar event. To safeguard Earth, vast orbital habitats known as Foundations were constructed across the Solar System to serve as hubs of learning and exploration. One such Foundation, the Stellvia, is where Shima Katase defies her mother’s objections to enroll as a preparatory student, driven by a desire to witness space firsthand. At the Stellvia she undergoes pilot training and aims to be chosen for the "Great Mission," a critical operation intended to shield Earth from the impending second wave. As Katase contends with demanding flight instruction and complicated interpersonal relationships, she grows and matures into a person who may be capable of protecting humanity from renewed disaster.
