Synopsis

In a realm populated by demons, cyclopes, and other strange beings, humanity has been driven to the margins. Humans provoked conflict long ago, and their near extinction left survivors vulnerable and regarded as prey. The few who remain are hunted and treated as a rare food, stripped of status and safety. While a solitary golem—an ancient guardian of the natural world—makes its rounds, it encounters a lone human child whose bright curiosity moves it. The golem decides to care for the girl, Somali, and together they set out on a journey through dangerous lands. Their travels are guided by the golem's protective instincts and Somali's hope of finding her parents and a place to belong. Along the way they face threats and encounter the varied inhabitants of this world, maintaining a quiet tone of guardianship and longing without revealing future outcomes.
