Reki Kyan, a high schooler whose life revolves around skateboarding, spends nights racing at "S," a clandestine underground course inside a mine where participants face extreme risk. After losing a race that destroys his board and breaks his arm, Reki can no longer train or skate. While working, he meets Langa Hasegawa, a new classmate of mixed Canadian and Japanese heritage with no background in skateboarding and urgent financial needs. Tasked by Reki’s employer to visit "S," the two become entangled in trouble that forces them into a wager demanding Langa take part in a race. Langa conceals a surprising advantage unknown to Reki—an unexpected element that could alter the outcome of the competition and offer a way forward amid danger and uncertainty.
