Synopsis

Originating from Toru Tsunemitsu’s short tale often called "Ghost Toilet," the story entered a collection of school urban legends and was later reworked into a children’s book titled Hanako in the Toilet: Scary Stories of Your School (1993). Multiple illustrators and writers then produced a manga anthology under the Here Comes Hanako banner, with many contributors shaping the animated interpretation. That anime adaptation was presented as a recurring segment within the Ponkikki Kids television series, with Hanako introducing episodes such as a haunted movie theater story and one about a bewitched promise ring.
