Synopsis

After the fall of the Kappa Kingdom to the Otter Empire, the displaced kappa prince Keppi is stripped of influence and faces a threat of Kapa-zombies—beings created by the Otters and shaped from people’s deepest wishes. With few options left, Keppi turns to three boys: Kazuki Yasaka, who must constantly carry a mysterious box; his childhood friend Enta Jinnai; and the truant delinquent Tooi Kuji. Through removal of the mythical shirikodama, these boys gain the ability to become kappa and confront the spreading Kapa-zombies. Their success depends on forming intimate links—sharing thoughts, bodies, and, crucially, each other’s secrets. As they shoulder the burden of restoring the Kappa Kingdom’s hope, the boys confront how delicate and valuable human connection can be.
