Synopsis

Lieutenant Mizuki, a seasoned combat officer, became the inaugural prototype for a military program after wounds ended her frontline service. As the first subject, her capabilities were effective yet constrained by early-stage development. When Chise is compelled into service as a more promising candidate, Mizuki initially regards her as fragile and unfit for the role. Being the only other person who experienced the procedure, Mizuki alone can perceive Chise’s inner voice and thus gains an intimate perspective no one else shares. As hostilities intensify and Chise undergoes further transformation, Mizuki’s observations lead her to a deeper understanding of Chise’s nature, the realities of the ultimate-weapon program, and her own place within the conflict.
