Synopsis

Ayato Kamina, an ordinary high school student, sees his familiar Tokyo overtaken by advanced fighter jets and learns from Haruka Shitow—an operative of an agency called TERRA—that the city has been sealed inside a temporal bubble known as "Tokyo Jupiter." This containment was created by the Mulians, interdimensional humanoids intent on isolating and conquering Tokyo, while TERRA seeks a way to penetrate the barrier. Overwhelmed, Ayato flees and, guided by classmate Reika Mishima, reaches the Shrine of Xephon where a dormant egg rests. Reika's song triggers an unknown force inside Ayato that links him to RahXephon, which emerges from the egg. Haruka soon locates him again and urges him to join TERRA's effort against the Mulians. Surrounded by hostile forces and shifting recollections, Ayato struggles to understand his role, confront changes to his memories, and redefine his identity amid the turmoil.
