Synopsis

In 1999, elementary student Amamori Hajime lives an ordinary life of school and friends until an accident destroys his home and leaves him orphaned. Taken in by his astronomer uncle, Hajime encounters Yukino Yayoi, a familiar girl he had admired who also works at her parents' ramen shop. As his uncle’s observatory assistant, Yayoi reveals a far stranger identity: she is the Millennial Queen, chosen by her home world LaMetal to prepare for a recurring cosmic threat. LaMetal follows a highly elongated orbit that brings it perilously close to Earth every thousand years, triggering severe planetary upheavals. Although selected to defend her planet, Yayoi intends to relocate as many humans as possible to LaMetal so they can survive if Earth is devastated. Her efforts, however, face organized resistance from the leader of the Millennial Thieves, who opposes her evacuation plan and appears to know about her role. The story explores Hajime’s change in circumstances, his connection to Yayoi, and the tensions between her mission and those who seek to thwart it, all set against the backdrop of impending celestial peril.
