Synopsis

Tokyo’s growth forces difficult compromises, shrinking the habitats where wildlife once thrived. Among the affected are the tanuki, magical shape-shifters whose forest home is threatened by the city’s advance. As their living space dwindles and disputes over territory escalate, the community suffers mounting pressure. Elder tanuki Oroku calls for collective action: the clans must join forces to defend their woods and use their transformative powers to deter human encroachment. Their campaign of sabotage and deception proves far more complicated than expected, exposing fault lines within the community. Torn between solidarity and resentment, the tanuki face a struggle to either secure their future together or fracture under the strain of fighting humanity while mourning the loss of nature.
