Synopsis

Souta Tawara leaves Tokyo briefly to visit his childhood home in Kagawa. The family udon shop, now quiet without his parents, evokes memories of earlier times. Inside, he finds a dirty boy asleep and offers food and clothing. The boy unexpectedly reveals a furry set of ears and a tail, identifying himself as the long-rumored shapeshifting tanuki of the area. Believing the boy to have led a lonely existence, Souta takes him in and gives him the name Poko. The story follows the gentle, growing bond between Souta and Poko as their shared days prompt Souta to remember the place he left for the city and the relationship he had with his father.
