Synopsis

Aoyama, a child with unusually advanced knowledge for his age, faces teasing from peers while quietly nursing a crush on a kind woman he met at a dental clinic. One morning, penguins begin appearing without explanation throughout his neighborhood. Curious about their origin, Aoyama joins the woman in studying these unexpected visitors. Their investigation leads them to a hovering sphere they call "The Sea," into which anything dropped never returns. They learn the penguins are uniquely capable of destroying the sphere, but using that ability triggers a disturbing outcome. Penguin Highway follows Aoyama and the woman as they probe the penguins' emergence and confront the personal and investigative challenges that arise during their search for answers.
