Synopsis

Three centuries earlier, a genetic project malfunctioned and transformed the world’s forests, giving vegetation awareness and prompting an assault on humanity that reduced the planet to a hostile dystopia. In the current era, Agito, a boy living with his father in Neutral City—a settlement that has negotiated a fragile peace with the surrounding woods—becomes separated from a companion while fetching water and discovers a preserved remnant from before the catastrophe: a girl in a strange device. He revives her, introducing Toola Cm Sacl to the villagers. However, others seek the girl for their own aims, since she may possess the means to heal the Earth. Influenced by Shunack, a veteran intent on annihilating the forest, Toola departs despite Agito’s objections. Resolute to rescue her and to bridge the divide between humans and the awakened forest, Agito taps into the forest’s power and sets out in pursuit.
