Synopsis

Taeko Okajima, a 27-year-old woman who has lived her whole life in Tokyo, leaves the city's pace to help her family with the harvest in the countryside. On the train, she experiences vivid recollections of her schoolgirl self during early puberty, as though traveling alongside her younger memories. At the station she meets Toshio, a young farmer who gives her a ride; their acquaintance grows into a close, uncomplicated friendship. While staying with her relatives, Taeko develops deep ties with family and neighbors, discovers the contrasts between urban routines and rural labor, and witnesses both the hardships and quiet gratifications of farming life. The story is nostalgic and gently melancholic, following Taeko as an adult reconciling her childhood aspirations with who she has become.
