Synopsis

A child named Tooichi discovers an aged lamp in his grandfather's shed and treats it like a plaything. When his grandfather rebukes him, he shares the lamp's backstory: in his youth, Minosuke earned a living running errands for neighbors until a trip to a neighboring town exposed him to Western streetlighting. Encountering those unfamiliar lamps sparked a deep interest that led Minosuke to devote himself to lamps, shaping both his path and the everyday life of their traditional Japanese community as it gradually embraced Western technology.
