Synopsis

After Berühren Corporation's technology made combat-grade cybernetic bodies publicly available, those augmented are called the Extended. Juuzou Inui is an Extended who was engineered for warfare and lacks memories of his prior life. In peacetime he operates a small firm that handles incidents involving other Extended across the city. News of an outlaw Extended accused of abducting a child reaches him, and soon a towering mechanical man carrying a boy bursts into his office seeking refuge. Juuzou could hand the pair over, but the circumstances strike him as suspicious. As various parties seek control of the child, Juuzou is drawn into an investigation that ties the runaway Extended to the Berühren Corporation and exposes deeper conspiracies affecting the city. He must determine why the Extended fled, what the child represents to competing interests, and how extensive the corruption and deception truly are.
