Synopsis

After nuclear attacks, environmental disasters, and systemic corruption trigger a nationwide uprising, Japan fractures into three rival powers. Diplomatic ties have vanished, replaced by unending conflict as each faction deploys military force and scarce resources to seize the remaining territory. Aoteru Misumi, a minor bureaucrat without noble lineage or battlefield renown, has long kept to the sidelines. Driven by a desire to stop the perpetual slaughter, he pursues national reunification using keen perception and a talent for galvanizing others. Thus begins the tale of an ordinary official whose strategic acuity and rhetorical skill set him on the path to becoming a prominent military thinker.
