Synopsis

Manie-Manie: Meikyuu Monogatari collects three distinct short films by Rintaro, Yoshiaki Kawajiri, and Katsuhiro Otomo. In the first segment, a young woman named Sachi and her cat Cicerone pass through a mirror into a perplexing, reality-warping maze and pursue the elusive trace of a clown without knowing where it will lead. The second piece follows reporter Bob Stone as he investigates legendary racer Zack Hugh, a decade-long champion whose body and spirit have been eroded; Bob witnesses a perilous race that pushes human and machine to their limits and confronts what sustains a lasting victor. The final story sends salaryman Tsutomu Sugioka into a hazardous jungle to suspend a construction operation after the foreman vanishes; he encounters autonomous construction machines that have created a lethal, uncontrollable environment, and when the chief unit refuses to comply with his orders, Tsutomu must find an alternative method to stop the project before the company incurs severe losses.
