Synopsis
Kokone Morikawa struggles with a recurring sleep condition that blurs the boundary between waking life and vivid dreams. By day she studies for university entrance exams as an ordinary high school student; by night she inhabits Heartland, a mechanized future in which artificial intelligence is outlawed and she assumes the role of a ceremonial princess. In that dream domain she uncovers fragments of her family's history and a concealed truth her father, a skilled mechanic, sought to shield her from. As occurrences in both planes begin to affect one another, Kokone faces threats that are at once fanciful and dangerously real, forcing her to guard the secret her father tried to keep hidden.
