Synopsis

Fifteen years into the conflict between humans and demons, a Hero grows impatient with his army's slow progress and leaves his comrades to advance alone toward the Demon Queen's stronghold. There he encounters a strikingly beautiful ruler who asks for his cooperation. The Hero initially rejects partnering with the enemy, insisting the demons' campaign is harming the Southern Nations. The Demon Queen counters by showing how the war has consolidated human societies and boosted their material fortunes, while warning that an abrupt end to fighting would halt vital supplies from the Central Nations and plunge many in the South into famine. She then proposes an alternative path to conclude hostilities that could bring relief to the Southern Nations and beyond—but she needs the Hero's help to carry it out. Persuaded by her argument, the Hero sets aside their enmity, pledges to stand by her, and returns with her toward the human realm to pursue their shared plan.
