Synopsis

Kazuhiko Nukumizu is a reserved first-year high school student who has little experience with fleeting adolescent romance and prefers to remain an unnoticed background figure. Content with his solitary, low-profile existence, he unexpectedly becomes implicated in the emotional life of a popular classmate, Anna Yanami, after seeing her rejected by a childhood friend in a family restaurant. Though he wishes to ignore the incident, Anna pours out her feelings to him, describing the pain of being the childhood friend who loses her beloved. As Kazuhiko gets involved to help or simply respond, two other girls enter the circle around him: Lemon Yakishio, an extroverted track-and-field club member, and Chika Komari, a timid literature-club student. Thrust beyond his comfort zone, Kazuhiko transitions from background observer to a central presence in the complicated romantic struggles of several earnest, struggling heroines.
