Synopsis

An animated feature drawing inspiration from Winsor McCay’s Little Nemo comic strips, tracing its roots to McCay’s early 20th-century animated effort. During development, prominent figures such as Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata were involved initially but departed over creative disagreements; Ray Bradbury is also reported to have left the project in its early phase. Titled Little Nemo - Adventures in Slumberland, the film holds the distinction of being the first Japanese animated feature to receive a nationwide theatrical release in the United States.
