Synopsis

After a helicopter collides with a nuclear facility in a terrorist incident, the Japanese government enacts legislation that broadens the authority of the Media Betterment Committee (MBC). Concerned that novelist Kurato Touma will be targeted because one of his books mirrors elements of the attack, reporter Maki Orikuchi requests protection from the Library Defense Force (LDF) to serve as his guardians. At the same time, senior officers within the LDF prepare legal action challenging portions of the Media Betterment Act as unconstitutional. As the statutory legitimacy of the MBC faces legal examination, members of the Library Task Force must manage the delicate balance between developing personal relationships and operating amid a politically unstable environment, all while fulfilling their protective and civic duties.
