Synopsis

Eiri Kurahashi, an art student in Japan, works at an antique shop. His friends observe a significant and troubling shift in his demeanor, noting his increasing distraction and altered behavior, which they attribute to a romantic entanglement. However, Eiri's reality involves a beautiful, doll-like girl he perceives within an antique Venetian glass, acquired by his uncle from France. She appears to inhabit a distinct realm confined entirely within this glass, yet her image persistently occupies Eiri's thoughts. His sketchbook soon fills with her likeness, revealing his profound fascination. He later identifies her in a portrait by the enigmatic Italian artist Marchello Orlando, learning her name is Cossette d’Auvergne and that she met a tragic end with her family. One evening, while closing the shop, Eiri hears a voice requesting his presence. Establishing contact with the subject of his fixation, he agrees to a pact whose implications remain unclear to him.
