Synopsis

Katsuhira Agata is a withdrawn adolescent whose ability to sense pain has nearly disappeared, leaving him emotionally distant and an easy target for exploitation. Chidori Takashiro retains only hazy memories of the time before his condition. Their quiet, strained lives shift when Katsuhira, Chidori, and four additional youths are abducted and enlisted in the Kizuna System as designated "Kiznaivers." Through this program the participants are interlinked so that physical injury sustained by any member is mirrored across all of them, making pain a shared reality. Intended as an experimental mechanism toward broader social aims, the system is incomplete and treats the group as test subjects. Confronted with linked suffering, the Kiznaivers are compelled to confront one another and reveal buried aspects of themselves; failing to connect emotionally threatens outcomes far beyond the experiment itself.
