Synopsis

A shy classical pianist, Kaoru Nishimi, arrives in Kyushu for his first year of high school after a childhood of frequent moves and prepares for another isolated year. His expectations change when he meets Sentarou Kawabuchi, a notorious delinquent whose deep passion for jazz opens Kaoru's curiosity about the genre. Gradually, Kaoru begins to emerge from his shell and forms his first true friendship. He starts playing piano at informal after-school jazz gatherings in the basement of Ritsuko Mukae’s family record shop, discovering the satisfaction of using his skill to create shared enjoyment. Through music, the three individuals grow closer as they experience the bonds of friendship, the warmth of mutual support, and the emotional resonance of jazz during a summer that may become unforgettable.
