Synopsis

While searching for a cherished companion, a boy named Nai is captured by an alluring woman who consumes human flesh. At the same time, Gareki, a resourceful thief, is burgling the woman's opulent residence. After creating a diversion, Gareki helps Nai attempt an escape, but they are caught when the woman returns and reveals her monstrous form, forcing the boys to run. They are later intercepted by Circus, a government defense force tasked with handling threats beyond the police and defending civilians from varuga—grotesque creatures that feed on people. Hoping to locate his missing friend, Nai enrolls with Circus alongside Gareki. Their hazardous mission brings them into repeated conflict with dangerous varuga and leads them to unravel truths about a clandestine organization called Kafka.
