Synopsis

Tsuneo Suzukawa, a university student driven by a love of diving and marine biology, works multiple part-time jobs to save for studying overseas. One night an accidental encounter introduces him to Kumiko, who prefers the name Josee and uses a wheelchair. Initially brusque and difficult, Josee is nonetheless placed under Tsuneo’s care when her grandmother hires him for the paid position. Tsuneo accepts partly to continue funding his academic goals, and at first he grows frustrated with Josee’s blunt and demanding manner. When he attempts to resign, he learns of Josee’s yearning to experience the wider world beyond her physical limitations. Tsuneo then chooses to remain and accompany her as they visit new places and encounter life’s small wonders. Over time, their interactions reveal qualities in each other that help them pursue their own hopes and ambitions, and their shared journey reshapes their perspectives without diminishing the challenges they face.
