Synopsis

Suzu Urano is a gentle, imaginative young woman who enjoys drawing and often drifts into daydreams. Raised near Hiroshima and helping with her grandmother’s nori business, she departs her familiar life to wed Shuusaku Houjou, a man she barely knows. As she settles into her new home, Suzu faces homesickness and difficulty adapting to unfamiliar routines. The expanding war reshapes ordinary existence, bringing hardship and violence even into her immediate surroundings. Through her personal struggles to protect and care for those she bonds with, the story offers a vivid yet somber portrait of daily life before and after World War II, highlighting the resilience of ordinary people amid escalating turmoil.
