Synopsis

In a world where the artisan Kuroda fashions beings called Hybrid Child—entities that exist between machine and doll and develop through the affection they receive—these artificial humans experience emotions and individual awareness yet remain distinct from true humans and depend on love to mature. Kotarou Izumi, heir of a respected household, brings home a discarded Hybrid Child he names Hazuki, an act that draws disapproval and repeated attempts by his family to remove Hazuki from the estate. As Kotarou and Hazuki confront these rejections and navigate daily challenges, their connection deepens over time. After a decade together, they face the unsettling possibility that a Hybrid Child’s existence may be finite. The work comprises three concise romantic narratives that explore the evolving relationships between these created beings and the people who care for them, focusing on affection, identity, and the fragile nature of their lives.
